Water-Fed-PoleYou most likely know that if you tried to clean a window by turning a hose pipe on it, it would dry milky white and streaky due to the impurities and mineral deposits in the water.
The water-fed-pole system bypasses this problem by using 100% pure de-ionised water fed to a window cleaning brush on extension poles leaving the windows to dry naturally spot free. Technical stuff...If you were to test the tap water in the Hull area with a TDS (total dissolved solids) meter, it would come out as between 300 and 430ppm (parts per million).in Newcastle, it is slightly less, around 200ppm, all of which is fine for drinking, but still by far not pure enough to clean windows with. If you want to wash glass and end up with perfectly clean windows, you need to extract or filter out ALL of the minerals and deposits in the water leaving a TDS reading of 000.To make the water pure, it is therefore passed through a very extensive and rigorous set of filters and machinery using a system called reverse osmosis. This distills and filters ALL of the minerals and impurities out of the water leaving it chemically pure H20.
The precedent has been set by the replacement window industry, where glass used to produce double glazed sealed units is washed and rinsed using de-mineralised and de-ionised water prior to assembly. This is the reason that sealed units will remain optically perfect for many years, until the seal is damaged. What Can I Expect? No ladders! Thus avoiding the disaster scenario to the right!
Your windows will still be cleaned on a monthly basis, but as traditional window cleaning leaves behind sticky soap residue (which attracts fresh dirt back to the window), windows cleaned with the Water-Fed-Pole system actually stay cleaner for longer. Although I will do my best to rinse away as much as possible of the previously mentioned soap residue left from previous cleaning methods, please allow for some slight ‘spotting’ for the first clean. Soap tends to lodge around the edge of the frames, and it may take a few cleans to completely rinse it away. After each clean you will notice the result improve until ultimately the finish will effectively be sterile. I'm certain you'll be as happy with this cleaning system as I am, but if you have any questions about it, please feel free to contact me and I'll try to alleviate any of your concerns. |

AdvantagesThe Water Fed Pole System involves the use of telescopic poles and nearly 100% pure water .The chemically pure water (over 99.9% pure H2o) is obtained by using reverse osmosis equipment and de-ionization filters. It requires special equipment to be fitted to a vehicle and preparing the water is a lengthy and expensive process compared to just filling a bucket with tap water. However, the advantages over traditional cleaning methods are clear:
1. Better Cleaning ResultsPure water constantly strives to return to its impure state; hence its capacity to absorb large amounts of dirt from your windows. As such, `pure water’ becomes a highly effective cleaning solution in itself. This process involves brushing your windows clean with pure water. Firstly, loosening the dirt, and secondly, rinsing and flushing away the dirt. The windows are left wet and allowed to dry naturally. This can be disconcerting, as you may expect water droplets to leave some marks as they dry, but remember, as the dirt has been flushed away, these remaining droplets are now pure, so as they dry they leave no marks, no residues.
2. Health and SafetyLegislation being brought in from Europe will severely limit the use of portable ladders as temporary workstations. The law now states that portable ladders should only be used when all viable alternatives have been considered, and water fed pole systems are now seen as THE safer viable alternative within the window cleaning industry. A surprising number of accidents do happen with ladders, and portable ladders top the list as the biggest single cause of accidents generally, in industry and at home.
3. Reduced DisturbanceAlthough I do my best to keep disturbance to a minimum, ladder use DOES cause some inevitable disturbance. E.g. rattling of the metal, dents in your lawn etc. These problems are minimized with the use of water fed poles.
4. Increased PrivacySomething many householders appreciate is that by using water fed poles instead of ladders, there is no more need to worry about the window cleaner suddenly appearing at the bedroom window. No more running around tidying up or shutting the curtains!
5. Improved AccessI can now reach with ease previously inaccessible aspects of your property such as third floor windows, conservatory roofs, windows above conservatories or sloping roofs, and other windows that previously had to be left for safety reasons.
